Why homemade cleaners?

• You can control the ingredients
• Better air quality in your home
• Cost effective
• Environment friendly, less waste
• Eliminate resistant bacteria

Fragrant cleaning products have been associated with a range of adverse health effects such as migraine headaches, asthmatics, respiratory difficulties, neurological problems, mucosal symptoms, and dermatitis.

Fragrances are linked to our staggering numbers of health risks across multiple research studies. Chemicals used to make fragrances are classified as allergens, hormone disruptors, asthma triggers, neurotoxins, and carcinogens. Fragrances are highly toxic and that’s why I started to use homemade cleaners.

A clean home leaves fewer places for germs and bacteria to hide. Dust and allergens can build up in carpets and bedding and that can lead to worse allergies, and on top of all of that, respiratory irritation.

My homemade cleaner recipe is very easy to make. As well, the cost is so minimal it almost seems free!

I bought this glass bottle over 4 years ago and it’s still works great and I use it a lot! You can find this glass bottle HERE.

I also love to use these swedish dishcloths to clean and wipe down the counter.

You can find all of my cleaning supplies in my Amazon store, or in the links below!

All Purpose Cleaner

• 1 1/2 C water
• 1/2 tsp dish soap
• 20 drops of tangerine essential oil or good mood essential oil

Heavy Duty Cleaner

• 1/4 C baking soda
• 1 TB sal suds
• 1 TB fractionated coconut oil
• 15 drops of essential oil (I like lemon or tangerine)

Glass Cleaner

Make this using 50% vinegar and 50% distilled water. It might not smell great, but it’s way better for your heath when using indoors.

The other recipe is 50% rubbing alcohol, 50% water. My honest opinion is that this one cleans the mirrors and the glass a little better than the vinegar recipe option, but it is highly toxic to breathe in because of the VOC (volatile organic compounds – has plastic and can cause neurological damage). Because of this, I only use this recipe option outside.

If you want to see me put these cleaners in to action, you can see it in this video!
