I really love this recipe. It is perfect for anytime of year – a cozy recipe in the fall, a treat in the winter, or a fresh snack in the summer.

I enjoy this treat warm or cold, and both options taste really delicious!

You can make this recipe 4 different ways, depending on how much time you have and what texture you would like to achieve.

My personal favorite way to make these fritters is to use chopped apples and to fry them in a little oil, but if I am really short on time, I will shred the apples and bake it. Shredding the apples will also give the fritters a softer texture.

You can choose how you want to make them – grating the apples or chopping them in to small cubes, and then baking them in the oven or frying them. It is up to you!

As for the specific ingredients, when I fry the fritters, I like to fry them in ghee, but you could fry them in oil if that works better for you too. I use oat milk for these fritters, but you can use whatever milk you have on hand.

For the flour, I used this Namaste Gluten Free Organic Perfect Flour Blend. I haven’t tried other flours, but go ahead and experiment – you might come up with something delicious!

To put the finishing touch on these apple fritters, I grind up some monkfruit in to a fine powder to make powdered sugar. Sometimes I add in a couple vanilla beans too. It makes these fritters taste even better!

Apple Fritters

CupeaspoonIngredients:

  • 4 medium-sized apples, peeled, chopped or shredded (about 4 cups chopped or 3 cups shredded
  • 1/4 cup oat milk (or almond milk or any milk of your choice)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Namaste gluten free organic flour blend
  • Monkfruit, ground into powdered sugar for topping (optional)

Steps:

If you are baking the fritters in the oven, preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium size bowl, whisk together the 1/4 Cup oat milk and 3 eggs. Add in the 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 Tablespoons maple syrup, 1 Tablespoon ghee, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Whisk again. Stire in the 1/2 Cup flour.

Mix in the 4 apples (peeled, and chopped or shredded).

If you are baking the fritters, grease a pie pan (or similar size baking pan) with ghee. Pour the apple mixture in to the pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.

If you are frying the fritters, in the pan over medium-high heat, add ghee to create a thin layer or melted ghee on bottom of pan. Pour 1/2 cup of the apple mixture in to the ghee to fry. Let apple mixture cook for about 2-3 minutes per side. Once golden brown on each side, remove the fritters and place on a paper towel to cool.

Before eating, sprinkle with a little powdered sugar and serve.

Can I use coconut or almond flour for this recipe?

Hi Christy! You can try it but the coconut flour will be very dry and the almond flour may fall apart. This could be the issue with that. The Namaste flour helps glue it all together! However if you use the egg it should help to hold it together. 🙂 You can try it and see how it works! 🤗

Love, love your recipes but can I query something with you….you put that you use ghee to make the fritters dairy free but here in The UK ,ghee is clarified butter and not dairy free?
Is your ghee different in The USA?

It is the same here too! It is clarified butter. I cannot have cows milk or cheese but ghee I do great with since it is clarified with the lactose and casein removed 🤗❤
