You can make this recipe 4 different ways, depending on how much time you have and what texture you would like to achieve.

My personal favorite way to make these fritters is to use chopped apples and to fry them in a little oil, but if I am really short on time, I will shred the apples and bake it. Shredding the apples will also give the fritters a softer texture.

You can choose how you want to make them – grating the apples or chopping them in to small cubes, and then baking them in the oven or frying them. It is up to you!

As for the specific ingredients, when I fry the fritters, I like to fry them in ghee, but you could fry them in oil if that works better for you too. I use oat milk for these fritters, but you can use whatever milk you have on hand.

For the flour, I used this Namaste Gluten Free Organic Perfect Flour Blend. I haven’t tried other flours, but go ahead and experiment – you might come up with something delicious!

To put the finishing touch on these apple fritters, I grind up some monkfruit in to a fine powder to make powdered sugar. Sometimes I add in a couple vanilla beans too. It makes these fritters taste even better!

Apple Fritters

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized apples, peeled, chopped or shredded (about 4 cups chopped or 3 cups shredded
  • 1/4 cup oat milk (or almond milk or any milk of your choice)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Namaste gluten free organic flour blend
  • Monkfruit, ground into powdered sugar for topping (optional)

Steps:

If you are baking the fritters in the oven, preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium size bowl, whisk together the 1/4 C oat milk and 3 eggs. Add in the 1 tsp vanilla extract, 2 Tb maple syrup, 1 Tb ghee, and 1/8 tsp salt. Whisk again. Stire in the 1/2 C flour.

Mix in the 4 apples (peeled, and chopped or shredded).

If you are baking the fritters, grease a pie pan (or similar size baking pan) with ghee. Pour the apple mixture in to the pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until golden brown.

If you are frying the fritters, in the pan over medium-high heat, add ghee to create a thin layer or melted ghee on bottom of pan. Pour 1/2 cup of the apple mixture in to the ghee to fry. Let apple mixture cook for about 2-3 minutes per side. Once golden brown on each side, remove the fritters and place on a paper towel to cool.

Before eating, sprinkle with a little powdered sugar and serve.
